The DPN was the first product I bought from a social media advertisement. I had to click and learn more. Can you really get a box to secure your devices and it allows you to access locations around the world - for a one-time fee? I have had Deeper Network's DPN for more than a year now, and it is becoming a better and better experience. In case you are a VPN user, are living abroad and need to access local media, or want to browse the best offers for subscriptions across borders, this might be for you.
Disclaimer: I do not have experience with other companies' DPN products.I will not get into details on how Deeper Network's Deeper Connect products works. You can read about it on their website.
You buy a device which works as a router. In the administration panel you can set it up to access the web from different locations - just like a VPN. There are many different settings on how to do it, which you can learn more about further down the article.
You get more than just access to locations, which is why I am so excited about the product.
My DPN device uses a peer-to-peer concept/technology. It is a concept I have embraced ever since I learned about computers 25 years ago, and has always had a special place in my heart.
I recently bought the Deeper Connect Pico because I travel quite often in SEA, and the networks around here are quite unsafe and shady. It works like a charm.
The pico is a bit bigger than a plastic lighter which makes it easy to bring on the go. It is powered by a USB cable, which can be used with the included socket converter, or another USB power source.
First of all, you can control the Pico on mobile devices. Thank you Deeper Connect. I could easily see why someone would forget to do this, but for a travel device it has to work on mobile. You access it through a browser and log in. You can only reach the admin panel if you are connected through the Pico device. I have set up a very complex password for the device, which is no problem when I have Bitwarden.
You can access a lot of settings in the control panel. I mostly use it to access wifi and change location settings. The security setup just runs in the background.
You simply connect it to a power source with a USB cable. Then you connect your device to it, and login to the admin panel. You search for the wifi of your choice, and log into the wifi via your Pico. When connected you are online using your DPN and thus protected.
I am writing this while being connected to my Pico, which is powered by my phone and connected to another wifi. Pretty neat!
Since I was a young teenager I have believed that 'Sharing is Caring'. Sharing digital content through networks can be done by p2p networks. Person 1 shares content with his bandwidth to Person 2, who in return will share their stuff with their bandwidth to Person 1. If you add a lot of people to this type of network interesting things can happen.
You can limit sharing, but please help provide us (the other users) with more security and location access by sharing your broadband. Thank you for your contribution. My DPN devices uses the same concept. I share my bandwidth with other peers, who in return share their bandwidth with me. We each contribute to the network with our location and bandwidth. The DPN makes sure to scramble and encrypt the connections in between, and to distribute the bandwidth between the peers. If you have devices set up around the world, and a lot of peers contributing, you help each other reach the goal of being (more) anonymous online.
This is just my understanding. If you want to know the exact methods and inner working of the Deeper Network products, please refer to the Deeper Network website. The DPN has a few other features that deserves a mention.
You get a built-in Adblocker, which has proven to be quite good.
Improved security. Learn more on the Deeper Network website.
Parental control. Block access to certain websites and/or IP addresses etc. Haven't really checked this feature out to be honest.
You can customize you DPN so it connect to specific websites from specific locations. For example you can set it up to connect to Netlix from USA, and Spotify from Thailand and so forth. It is very user-friendly and quick to set up.
You can also start blockchain mining with your device. Read about it here.
Features and updates are added regularly, so keep up to date on their website.Probably not. I have a feeling that it is a product for people who spend a lot of time traveling and working or just use their computer and other devices for many purposes. Most people probably feel that a cheap VPN or even a free solution is OK, and that's fair enough.
The DPN has a bit slow connections in general, but not really enough to complain when I get security and privacy in return. For the general population though, I believe they will choose other solutions for now, simply because they don't feel the need for that level of privacy.
Personally, I love it. It's an exciting company and cool products with some useful features. It works pretty well, and new features and updates are added regularly. I cross my fingers that this continues. Keep it up, Deeper Network!
