Just a quick shout out to DuckDuckGo for their help preventing online tracking.
I have been using the e-mail tracking prevention tool from DuckDuckGo for more than a year, and it works very well. The concept is quite simple, and it is quick to get it up and running.
You can use the DuckDuckGo mobile browser to enable the app protection on your Android device. On you PC or Laptop you can install the browser extension.
Basically you create an e-mail address with DuckDuckGo, and choose what e-mail address it should forward to e.g. your personal e-mail address in most cases. If you sign up to a service with the duck-email address, you will receive mails from that service to your personal inbox. The tracking tools, which were included in the e-mail from the service, will be stripped from the e-mail before you receive it in your private inbox.
The DuckDuckGo browser also include an 'app tracking feature' for your Android. The purpose is to prevent 3rd party apps from tracking you. You can read about it here.
It's easy to set up and will run in the background. You can check your personal statistics and get amazed how much companies wants to sneak and peak at your habits, behaviour, personal data, and secrets.
I almost forgot to mention the DuckDuckGo Search Engine, which is my preferred search engine. You can use it in most browsers, as your default search engine. It works quite well, and I always find relevant search results. Their concept is different from Google, as they don't collect personal data about you.
If companies could put a chip up your ass and monitor your body and thoughts they would do it. But they don't need to, since you have put it there yourself. It is your mobile, and they are tracking you inside out, and you agree to let them do it. Me too. These simple tools can at least help people realize the amount of tracking going on, and it is stackering and shocking.
DuckDuckGo and other companies has online privacy high on their agenda, and keep creating new features and tool to increase peoples chances to not be tracked all the time. I am looking forward to follow their progress in the future.
